ABOUT LEADERSHIP AND DEVELOPMENT

Leadership does not just refer to the person or persons at the top of the organisation. Leadership is much broader and more widespread. Leadership is multi-dimensional and the quality of leadership demonstrates itself in different ways:
- At the individual level through the behaviour of every individual leader;
- At the team level through the successfulness of leadership teams;
- At the organisational level through the leadership culture and the core values of the organisation.


Leaders are not just the people with a formal leader's role. Also leading professionals (for instance leaders in sales, account development, program- and project management, leading consultants, etc.) have a strong influence in shaping its leadership culture.
This happens in the most natural way, by personally setting the standard, being followed by the people around them, by setting the living example and by the way in which they inspire people, both inside and outside the organisation. These leaders create the professional image of the organisation in its markets.

Leadership Development (LD) is, roughly, about building the quality of leadership by identifying and developing talent, smooth and successful succession, and the build-up of executive experience.

The LDT is one of the instruments that help organizations to create a strong focus on the quality of leadership both at the individual and the organizational level. It has proven to be a perfect instrument that awakens the awareness of individual leaders and that motivates and stimulates them to reflect about the effectiveness of their leadership behaviour.
The concerted results of the individual assessments gives the organisation an insight in fitness-for-role, in team behaviour and in leadership culture which stimulates the leadership dialogue in the organisation.

Essential for deepening insight and reinforcing reflection is the development of an elucidating vocabulary, a structured ‘language’, based on general insights in leadership and psychology.
The toolbox delivers such a vocabulary and measures the participant’s behavioural styles accordingly in the constructs of this language. The ‘words of the language’ are created, structured and defined along with the most common and accepted models and concepts in the domain of leadership and psychology.
